About Me
Hello! I'm Megan Busk, a homeschooling mom of four, a birth doula, and a childbirth educator serving families in Utah and Juab County. I found birth work the way most of us do, through my own birth. And I've never looked back.
My own first birth was slow and textbook. I felt every single stage as it came. I felt loved and supported and present for the whole thing, and I walked away from it completely changed. That birth is why I decided to become a birth doula.
Since then, I've had three more beautiful babies, a surprisingly fast labor going from 6 to 10 centimeters and baby born in about 5 minutes, an unmedicated induction, and my longest and hardest birth that ended with an epidural. They were all completely different. Which means I understand that no two births are the same, and I will never assume I know what yours will feel like or what you will need.
I support families through hospital, home, and birth center births, medicated, unmedicated, VBAC, and cesarean. I'm always learning and staying current so that however your birth unfolds, I'm ready to be there with you.
When I'm not at a birth I'm homeschooling my four girls, tending my flower garden, watercoloring, or singing and dancing in the kitchen with my kids. I'm a get-up-and-go kind of person. You can usually find me out and about with my kids in the wilderness, at the pool, exploring a museum or reading in the library. I believe the best life is built around the people you love and the community you create together.
I believe birth is transformative. All of them. No matter what your experience looks like, you will come out of it changed.
My hands are my greatest tool. Hip squeezes, massage, water, pressure, I will be with you through the whole thing, not just checking in. And I’m going to be putting your partner to work as well. I don't just let him sit on the sidelines. I want this process to change both of you and prepare you for becoming a new family. This moment belongs to you both.
I'll probably get a glistening tear watching you struggle and overcome. Watching the relief wash over your face. Watching your partner look at you like he's never really seen you before. I try not to, but it happens more often than I care to admit. Birth is just beautiful and it hits me every single time.
It never gets old. That's why I do this work.
How I Support You
Support starts here!Image Credit: Nicole Hamic
When you hire me as your doula, my goal is simple. I want you to feel prepared, supported, and calm as you head into labor. From the time we start working together, I keep communication open so you always feel heard and never alone in the process.
During labor, I focus on creating a space where you feel cared for and your partner feels confident in how to support you. We are a team! I help you work through each stage of labor utilizing comfort measures, words of encouragement, and a steady presence, while also making sure your wishes are known and respected.
As a childbirth educator, I love helping couples understand what’s happening in pregnancy and labor so they can make informed decisions and feel ready for what’s ahead. When you understand your options, you’re able to be an active participant in your birth and feel confident in the choices you’re making for yourself, your baby, and your family.
My role isn’t to take over your birth space, but to walk alongside you and your partner so you feel supported and ready for this transformative experience.
